The 8 learning expedition to foster cross-sectoral innovation in Aerospace, Textiles, and Advanced Manufacturing Sectors and2nd Hackathon, all of these will take place throughout October & November.

GALACTICA launched in July the registration for the eight learning expeditions among the different prioritized sectors: textile, aeronautics/aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. Also, the calls for travel vouchers to participate in these are open through expressions of interest.

At the same time, the GALACTICA 2nd Hackathon was launch in July and is open to start-ups and SMEs, and university students based in European Union (EU27) or the United Kingdom.

GALACTICA Learning Expeditions and cross-sectoral fertilization workshops

GALACTICA has prepared 8 Learning expeditions for cross-sectoral innovation in Aerospace, Textiles, and Advanced Manufacturing Sectors to be held in October & November 2021. Download the information brochure of the expeditions here. There you can find financial support (travel vouchers) to participate. Startups and SMEs can apply for travel vouchers of up to €650 to participate in one of GALACTICA’s learning expeditions.


Galactica Hackathon is an open-innovation challenge to find new early-stage ideas that combine advanced manufacturing with aerospace and/or textile.

Registration is open until September 24th, 2021. Check the term of participation and registration.

The competition will run from October to December 2021. It is open to teams from SMEs, Start-Ups, and Students within the European Union.

The 2nd GALACTICA Hackathon will take place in two rounds: a virtual challenge on open innovation from October 1st to 14th(the first round will befully online), and a 2nd round for selected finalists (up to date) 10 teams) on November 30th and December 1st, 2021. The second round will be held in the Barcelona area (location to be confirmed and subject to sanitary conditions). Finalists will be eligible for travel vouchers to attend on-site.

All projects will be evaluated by experts from 10 European clusters and organizations, both from technical and business perspectives.

4 teams will be awarded a total amount of 50,000€ as prizes and will have the opportunity to access other GALACTICA support tools (Orbital Projects, Pioneer Acceleration) to support the scale-up of innovative ideas further and create new value chains.
